tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4673639169019002933.post536789148622541801..comments2023-10-06T06:09:38.689-07:00Comments on Salve Regina: What would you have done?paramedicgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17524363951843887071noreply@blogger.comBlogger3125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4673639169019002933.post-57951881835238457002008-11-10T06:15:00.000-08:002008-11-10T06:15:00.000-08:00frank and i came across a little old lady who was ...frank and i came across a little old lady who was looking in a garbage can for pop bottles. she was not dressed for the cold weather, she had a little flimsy shirt on and super thin pants. her hair was wild looking. she looked to be about 80. she was terribly thin. she was very cold. i happened to be about to drink my hot coffee, when i saw her. i told frank, give me your 5$ please, and it was all the money we had until payday. that was over a week away. he gave it to me, and i grabbed my coffee and saw that the woman had gone. so i got out of the car ( we were waiting for the government building to open as it was early, and not yet opened and we were sitting in the car) and went over to the lady and asked her if she drank coffee, and she said yes so i gave her my coffee, and i told her, here, take the money and buy something with it. she was very happy to say the least. it truly saddened me :( i was teary eyed believe me to see an elderly person digging in a garbage can to find money for food :( and cold on top of it. i offered her my coat but she did not want it. <BR/><BR/>another time, i was down town on a cold windy day, and had just eaten half of a big sandwich and had one other left, and a bit of money on me, not much. there was a homeless old lady with lots of bags and blankets with her, and she was sitting huddled on a bench looking in garbage for food. i saw that and felt a horrible sadness, so i walked up to her and asked her if she wanted my other half of my sandwich, and she gladly accepted it, and i also gave her the money i had. as i left, i was depressed a bit because i know what its like to be homeless and desperately hungry and poor. i know what its like to have to be out in the cold with no where to go. i was not sad for myself, but sad for the homeless who a lot of people don't give a hoot about including the city where we live. <BR/><BR/>i will give them something to eat if it is in my means to do so. yes i will. what is really sad is there are homeless families with children on the streets, and elderly. it is a shame, and shame on the government for not doing something about it! <BR/><BR/>a dying boy in the usa has asked that his final wish be that the homeless be fed. and now his wish is coming true. people in his community have gathered food and are walking about his town and feeding the poor.Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00550875376593955659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4673639169019002933.post-9992461415128819602008-11-10T04:40:00.000-08:002008-11-10T04:40:00.000-08:00Whatsoever you do to the least of My brothers, you...Whatsoever you do to the least of My brothers, you do unto Me<BR/><BR/>Judge not.....Shirleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15454110560303310751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4673639169019002933.post-31023361008979045692008-11-09T23:56:00.000-08:002008-11-09T23:56:00.000-08:00Many times when working in downtown DC, I was hit ...Many times when working in downtown DC, I was hit up by beggars wanting food -- that is, until I offered to take them someplace to get them something to eat, as you did.<BR/><BR/>Once, I took a homeless man in downtown Baltimore to get a meal.
