He's in very poor health, but he gets up and comes to church early every morning, even in the freezing weather, to celebrate Mass for those of us who can't make the later daily Masses (most of them in town aren't until 08:30). The man has been a priest for more than 50 years, so he must be in his 80s, and he's on oxygen; but it's like the Mass is a fountain of youth for him, especially when he preaches. His Masses are so reverent, and his preaching so solid, that Sunday Mass at my own cathedral parish seems in some ways like a letdown.

Oh, and despite the early hour, his Masses are almost always PACKED. As much as I hate getting up at 06:00 to attend Mass, I'd hate even more to miss any of his Masses -- especially since there's no knowing how much longer we'll have him. What a frightful loss his passing will be.Anita Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11305092097247290243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4673639169019002933.post-43778531000661545612007-01-11T05:28:00.000-08:002007-01-11T05:28:00.000-08:00Paramedicgirl...
