Gone in Sixty Seconds

Well, maybe not quite sixty seconds. I just took my car out of storage today, and I've never even had it in fifth gear yet. It's a Retro '69 Fastback Mustang, 2007 model, with all the current technology, but has the appearance and original colour of the 1969 Fastback models. I'm heading to Calgary in it tomorrow to attend the FSSP Mass. I'm looking forward to both the Mass and the drive.

You get to drive that and an ambulance too? You are truly blessed.

Oh, my goodness! You've got the alloy wheels...do you have the leather interior?

What kind of engine does this beauty have?

Looks like disc brakes in front, drums in the rear...is this a manual trans?

And where did you take this picture? Beautiful country.

Adore, this car has a V6 5 speed manual transmission, with 4 wheel disc brakes. What are you, a mechanic??? :)

The pic is taken at our beautiful pedestrian bridge which was built by volunteer timber framers who came from all over the world to participant in the project. It is the longest covered pedestrian bridge in Canada.

Are you sure it's not an all-wheel drive with front disc and rear drum brakes? In looking at yoru rear wheels, I can see the calipers...or maybe I'm dreaming.

No, I'm not a mechanic but my current career, which I hate with a passion, combined with my previous boyfriend, who was into rally racing, cultivated a knowledge and appreciation for cars I never wanted to have.

But now that I have it, might as well exploit it!

If I can't be a downhill ski racer, I think maybe I can race rally cars....

Yours would be fun...must go really fast, but a roll cage would have to be installed along with a Hans device....

Oh, and your car would look even sweeter if you got ground effects, a hood scoop, and graphics.

But then it would be even a greater target for theives.

Since it has a transponder anti-theft system, though, as long as you keep in close contact with your keys, you shouldn't have a problem in the theft department...but watch out for tow trucks.

Adore, you know way more about cars than I do. Yeah, you should rally race! That sounds like fun! Who is the patron saint of rally racers again? ;}

Dr.B, maybe I'm just spoiled. I can't even decide which is more fun - driving an ambulance code 3 with all the emergency equipment activated or driving my Mustang. Not sure which one goes faster. I've had the ambulance out to 154 KPH, but don't dare do that with my car. I'm a big fan of cruise control.

Ah, memories! in 1969 I worked for a summer at Spectre Automotive, which had abandoned formula 1 racing and an Aussie championship, (65?)for SCCA racing with a Shelby GT350 (same color as your car), and a performance shop to pay the bills.

gotta love google... the shop, , (or at least the name) is still in business; and I see they even offer custom products under the old Specre Racing name: the Neumatic Blender is awesome!

Thanks for the bit of memory lane!

now, about The Beast in the shed, I'm still hoping to find a home back in the Empire for it...
