Announcing the winners

Thanks to everyone who entered the two contests I ran the last few days. It always surprises me how few people put their names forward for freebies. And these are really great freebies! My next giveaway will most likely be in early December, just in time for Christmas.

Oh, yes, drum roll please....

The winner of the Saints Daily Planner is....

Olivia from the blog Biddeford. Olivia, if you click on my profile, you will find my email address. Just send me your mailing address and proper name, and I will put the daily planner in the mail for you tomorrow.

The person with the least number of sacramentals is someone who just entered their name today, and goes by the name Venerable Bede. Please follow the contact info posted above, so I can send you out the Song of Angels print.

Song of angels

I have chosen this beautiful framed print for the giveaway to the person who has the least sacramentals in their home. It is titled Song of Angels and the original was painted in 1881 by French academic painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau. To enter your name in this contest, go to this post or scroll down to What's in Your Home? I will announce the winners of both contests by Monday, and they will have to email me their real names and addresses for shipping purposes. Song of Angels will be shipped directly from the supplier, and the Saints Daily Planner (see post below) will be sent from my address in Canada to whomever is chosen to receive it.

Get your entries in!

Giveaway

I love receiving book orders from Tan Publishers, and today I received several books; two copies of Attaining Salvation by St Alphonsus Liquori; The Great Magdalens (Famous Women Who Returned to God after Lives of Sin) by Msgr. Hugh Francis Blunt; and two copies of the 2009 Saints Calendar and Daily Planner.

Why two copies of some books you wonder? Well, part of the reason I have this blog is to give away spiritual readings and other opportunities to my readers. If you follow Salve Regina, you will know that I regularly send Catholic books to readers, often after running a contest of some sort. I also have Masses said for readers who send me their names, and sometimes even for other bloggers who I am in contact with.

Here's what I am doing with the extra copies of these two books. I am giving one copy of Attaining Salvation to my sister Shirley from the blog Seeking Jesus (one of the best spiritual blogs on my blogroll), and the copy of the Daily Saints Planner is up for grabs. If you are a student or are otherwise in need of a daily planner that will help to keep you focused on the liturgical year as you go about your busy life, leave a comment below or email me. I will choose someone to send it to within a week.

And if you are in the need of sacramentals to adorn your home and elevate your heart and mind to prayer, don't forget about this giveaway.

Mass Intentions

For several years now, I have been having Masses said by the mission priests for family, friends and the souls in purgatory. It is my way of contributing to the Church while at the same time helping souls. Every month I send my Mass intentions to the Catholic Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago, where they are forwarded to the mission priests through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith immediately upon being received. I usually send in six to nine Mass requests per month, often requesting a triduum of Masses for one individual, and now I am making an offer to you, my readers.

If you would like to have a Mass said for you, please send me your name - either in the combox or by email (available in my profile). A Mass said for the living is extremely valuable, and can confer much grace to your soul. In the year prior to my brother's death, I had twenty-one Masses said for him, and at his funeral, our family organized Gregorian Masses to be said for his soul. The Holy Mass is the most perfect form of prayer, and since many people are shy about having a Mass said for themselves at their home parish, here is your chance to get it done! I will add everyone who responds to this offer to my Mass intention list, in the order I receive your names.

June 19, 2010 EDIT - I am so surprised (and very pleased) that I am still getting requests for Mass intentions from people due to this post! It has long been my commitment to have Masses said for others. One thing - when you submit your Mass request, I do need your proper name, and you can email it if you don't want to post it here. My email is on my profile. My priest said he also needs to know if the person the Mass is being said for is Catholic or non-Catholic.

Free booklet for overcoming Rosary distractions

When people Google "Rosary distractions," this blog shows up as the number one and two hits in their search. There are two posts here for overcoming Rosary distractions, one here, and another one here. For all of those people who still need help in their struggle to overcome their wandering mind while praying the Rosary, I would like to offer this little booklet as a free gift. There are individual meditations for every bead, and after a while, you will have committed them to memory, and then you can pass the booklet on to someone else.

I have five to give away, and if you need one, you can leave a comment here and then email me your mailing address so I can send you out the booklet. You can find my email address on my profile page.
