Liturgical Dance

There's nothing so ridiculous as liturgical dance, is there? Here's a little story I just came across that speaks to its serious nature of abuse in the liturgy.

A bishop was visiting a church in his diocese, and during the Mass, as the priest and bishop were sitting in the sanctuary at the altar, the door opened and in came a liturgical dancer. She pirouetted down the aisle, twisting and turning with veils flying, toes pointing this way and that. Finally when she reached the end of the aisle, she collapsed in a heap at the foot of the altar. The bishop reportedly leaned over to the priest and whispered in his ear, "If she asks for your head on a platter, she's getting it."

I read that story before. I think it was in a book called "The lasat priests in America", written in the early nineties.

To my great shame, I now reveal that I once dated a liturgical dancer. Worse, I told her she was good.
