Heading home

Vacation was great! Nantucket was beautiful and we're just leaving Boston now, and will be home in BC later this evening. Lynne from A Quiet Catholic directed me to a Saturday Vigil Mass at St. Anthony's Chapel at the Prudential Centre in downtown Boston, and I went early to check it out and they were holding adoration and confessions. I stayed for both and we went back for Mass later.

I noticed they are holding a solemn sung Latin Mass (Novus Ordo) on Tuesday, September 11. I would have loved to be able to attend that. I have been to only one before and that was at the Father Corapi Lenten Retreat in Seattle this year. It's a very beautiful way to hold the Novus Ordo Mass.

Anyway, off to the airport now....

I'm glad the Mass was good, i.e. nothing kooky! How was the homily? I'm not surprised they're doing a Latin NO Mass on 9/11. They offer that twice a week at the 8 am Mass. They strike me as being orthodox liberals which in Massachusetts is about as good as it can get...

Lynne, the homily was good, all about the pitfalls of pride and how we can overcome pride with humility. You're right about them being liberal, though. The priest I went to confession to seemed to play down the gravity of sin so that it wasn't as serious as I thought it was.

I loved the hymns they sang - no OCP hymnal there - we started with "Holy God we Praise Thy Name, and ended with Immaculate Mary - two songs my own choir never sings.

I find Americans are more devout (generally speaking) than Canadians. I love the US and can"t wait to go back! I like all those different accents that people have from various parts of the US. :}

You're right Manfred, you have no accent at all - not when we talk on the internet, anyway! ;}
