You may have noticed

...that I haven't been posting as frequently as usual the last two weeks. We are still getting settled here in the big city, and learning my way around along with setting up house has really preoccupied my time. My ambulance station is an hour from my house, and I work twelve hour shifts, so that keeps me away from home (and the computer) for fourteen hours at a time. The adjustment period shouldn't last too much longer though, and I hope to have pics of the new homestead this weekend. I'm painting a spare bedroom red (yes, RED!) my favourite colour, and it's going to be where I keep all my Catholic books and hopefully it will become a little prayer chapel. I've always wanted to have a kneeler and an altar in my home for quiet prayer time that is secluded from the rest of the household activities. Oh, to be a recluse contemplative! Very tempting at times!

Red is my favourite colour too. I don't think Steve would let me paint a room red though. He likes soft colours.

Red is my favorite color, too. It has been since I was just a kid.

O.K., you are painting the room red and you are a paramedic. Will you be adding flashing lights and a siren? LOL!

Hah! I never thought of that! Nah, I better keep it a prayer room - I get enough of that at work.

Miss Paramedic Girl,

Hmmm..red. Prayer chapel...hmmm.

Bingo! Red is the colour of the Holy Spirit in iconagraphy, gold denotes heaven. Red with gold trim, like some truely beautiful sanctuaries I have seen. Escellent for a home oratory (The fancy name for a prayer chapel!)

As to a kneeler--if you look in a church supply cataloge, they're overpriced to the max. Go measure one at your parish, to get the verticles, then make one at home. If you use camping mats to make the knee cushion, use yelow pine demensional lumber and vinyl upholstery, it should cost about 35-50 bucks. Go for it.

Only know I gotta go to confession for being jealouse!

Thanks for the great tips, IR. Yes, red to signify the Holy Spirit. You know,I like that.

Kneelers? Creature comforts? What happened to hard stone floors and hair rugs for full length unfortable prostrations? ;)

Ah, the good old days!!

Ah, yes, I should be kneeling on ground glass like my blogging buddy Dr Bombay has to do! ;} I guess I could put barbs in the kneeler instead of padding it!
