Three Years of Grace

Today I went to what would be my last Latin Mass for some time. We are moving back to the interior on Friday, after three years of living on the Coast, and I will soon be attending Mass at a very liberal parish. (I am sure I will soon have plenty to write about!) I am going to miss the great sermons I have gotten used to; sermons that are meant to deliver your soul to heaven; I will miss the availability of the confessional, where the lineups are long, and you don't have to search for a priest to come and hear your confession. I will miss the great spiritual advice of our priests, advice that is calculated to help you do the will of God out of love for God, by setting your own will aside.

I will certainly miss the beautiful and holy prayers of the Latin Mass. The prayers of the Novus Ordo pale in comparison. There is so much meaning incorporated into every movement, prayer and gesture of the Latin Mass; it will be difficult to watch a constant parade of lay people prancing about the sanctuary, fulfilling their role of active participation in the Mass.

Oh well. God must have a plan for me, otherwise this sudden move wouldn't have happened the way it did. We will be living in this new city for three years. I hope it will be another three years of grace.

Yes, I remember well my all day trips to Calgary to attend Mass at St. Anthony's. I used to go once a month. Shirley and I are planning to go across the line to Cour d'Alene though. There is an FSSP parish there. We are going to aim for a monthly trip.

I'm so sorry.

Really, I am.

So...if you ever come south of the border, you let me know. Um...especially if you come to the Cities where I am. I'll introduce you to all the parishes that offer the Extraordinary Form and my new favorite place and religious community that offers it ALL THE TIME thanks to the Bishop who is now in Rome. (Burke).

Try this community: www.isjoseph.com

Beautiful little oratory in the middle of Mennonite and Catholic farmland. it's 2 hours from me and we have parishes here in the Cities, but...just sayin'...if you come this way for any reason....

;-)

It's time to shake up this complacent, liberal diocese. There are enough tradition-loving Catholics here now that we can make some noise... the squeaky wheel and all that...Looking forward to going to the St. Joan of Arc Chapel.

Adoro, I would love to head your way for a visit! Thanks for the link.

Shirley,I do hope that we can get a core group of faithful to request the Latin Mass. That would surely shake things up! I may have to register at your parish and make it a Sunday drive, just so I can add my name to the list.

Paramedicgirl--

Your plight has just earned you a place on the list--I'll try to remember you in prayers

Thanks, IR! One can never have too many people praying for them.

You will be not far from when I lived many years ago. Coeur d'Alene is beautiful. I don't think God cares HOW we worship Him, just THAT we worship Him. Nonetheless, I hope you will find a Mass where you can worship God in the way that makes you feel close to Him.
