More Signs the Motu Proprio is Actually on its Way

What a joy it will be when the Motu Proprio is finally released and the Catholic faithful will have access to the Mass that we have been deprived of for so long. Many, if not most priests will not be able to say the Tridentine Mass, though, without special instruction and training.

In steps the Institute of Christ the King. They are offering live-in training seminars for priests and deacons who want to learn the Tridentine Mass. And who better to learn it from than these priests who "celebrate the classical Roman Liturgy in its traditional form according to the liturgical books promulgated in 1962 by Blessed Pope John XXIII."

It's hard to imagine anyone, including priests, desiring to still celebrate the plain, dreary Novus Ordo Mass after they have had the privilege of experiencing the ancient treasure of the traditional Roman liturgy, celebrated unchanged for so many centuries. It will be interesting to see how many Novus Ordo priests accept this training opportunity and become attached to the Tridentine Mass, and begin to offer it in their own parishes.

Isn't it a shame that Catholic Priests would have to "learn" it?

Yes, I agree, Dave. They should all learn the Tridentine Mass in the seminaries. But it is great that it's the ICRSS who will be teaching the Mass, since I have heard that they are the ones who do it best. Otherwise, it could be a case of the blind leading the blind.

If that Motu Proprio doesn't get here soon I am leaving the Church and becoming a Baptist.

Okay, I'm kidding, but I have been waiting a looooooooong time....

I think the priests that are now approx 45 years old and up won't bother with the training. It will be the new generation, the "backlash", that learn it.

Check out my blog's latest entry (aquietcatholic.blogspot.com). There's a report by a local cable news channel on the new interest in the TLM. The report was amazingly even but one of the 2 negative voices was our Cardinal Sean.

He thinks the interest for it is mainly in Europe?!

Ora pro nobis

Lynne, I was on your blog yesterday, and I saw that. Interesting that he would think the MP is only relevant to Europeans. Boy, is he in for a big surprise!
