Requiescat in pace

Thank you to everyone who prayed for my brother Joe while he was ill these last two weeks. He died Thursday, June 14 in hospice in Edmonton with family around him, praying for him. He received extreme unction a few days ago from his traditional priest, and made a most beautiful and heartfelt act of consecration to the Blessed Virgin, placing himself in her hands and asking for her intercession. He was very grateful for the family presence and support, and continually thanked us for being there and for praying for him. I believe he died in the grace of God.

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May Joe's soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
