Plumber, gangster, it's all the same fashion

Don't you just hate it when you see young guys with their pants halfway down their backsides, strutting along like they are oblivious to the fact that their butts are exposed and their pants have fallen to their knees? I wonder how they manage to take any steps with their waistband around their thighs? My first impression of this fashion was one of a toddler walking around with a fully loaded, saggy diaper. Really, there is nothing appealing about it!

The look apparently started after prisoners, who aren't allowed to wear belts for safety reasons, spread the style to gangster rap videos, which was mimicked by skateboarders who spread it like a disease to impressionable youth who copy just about anything they see.

I guess I'm not alone in my dislike of this bizarre fashion, because now some states in the US are banning the gangsta look, making it illegal to the tune of six months in jail or a $500 fine to be caught with your pants down. Maybe they should just call it the Plumber's Law. Now, that's a welcome crackdown!

People who dress like that always make me wonder...how do they keep their pants up? My pants fall down that low and they're gone.

Why is my next question. Why? It's not sexy, it's not even nice looking. Your description of a toddler with a full diaper is very apt. I'm just glad that the trend hasn't really taken hold here...or maybe it did and they outlawed it really quick.

Either way, I count my blessings.

I heard that homosexuals in prison started this fashion. Apparently it was a way to signify they are open to sexual advances from others.

It is about time!
Why teens want to dress like prisoners I have no idea but I am totally glad that I will no longer have to see cracks or underwear anymore!

It's rediculous, and I grew up with kids that did that all the time. I never understood it.

Strange though, how's a hoodlum supposed to run from the police with his pants so low?

When I see that, I have an almost uncontrollable urge to jerk their pants down the rest of the way! LOL After all, why bother wearing them at all-just strut the streets in your underwear!

Was that last line an intended pun? LOL

I know. I've talked to girls about masculine modesty, and they all agree that seeing a guy's boxers is really disgusting.

Trev - if you meant "Now, that's a welcome crackdown! yeah, it was just my way of making fun of these guys who bare their boxers. (They really do look like idiots, they just don't know it)

I'm with Shirley. I wanna 'pants' the fools, too. Why bother with pants at all? Can't wait for that trend to begin.

..uh, excuse me, Emperor?

Going to jail for a fashion statement is extreme - but oh, what a horrible fashion! The dirty diaper was always what I thought it looked like, too.
