The Akita prophecy

In 1984, the Most Rev. John Shojiro Ito, Bishop of Niigata, Japan, after extensive investigation, declared the events at Akita in 1973 to be of supernatural origin, and said : "The message of Akita is the message of Fatima." In June, 1988, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger gave the definitive judgment on the events at Akita and said the messages were reliable and worthy of belief: imprimatur.

On August 3, 1973, the Blessed Virgin gave Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa the following message: "In order that the world might know His anger, the Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great chastisement on all mankind. With my son, I have intervened so many times to appease the wrath of the Father. I have prevented the coming of calamities by offering Him the sufferings of the Son on the Cross, His Precious Blood, and beloved souls who console Him and form a cohort of victim souls."

The third and last massage of October 13, 1973: "....if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary."

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their conferrers (other priests). Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Church."

"Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved."

The concept of "fire from the sky" is generally conceded to be a reference to Revelation 8:8, which reads: "...something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed." And Verse 10, which described a second impact on land: "...and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky." Again, in Isaiah 47:11, "Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you."

What do you think? Are we living it now?

-Methinks we are already seeing this....
If you are slack about praying the rosary, this post should give you incentive!

I think so. As a matter of fact, St. Augustine commenting on 2 Thess. 2 explains that the Jews will influence the Church one day to apostasy, and he said that one of the first signs would be an attack on the "sacrifice" of the Mass. Of course Luther and Calvin were precursers for this for they hated the "sacrifice" of the Mass and got rid of it as do all Protestants today. However, even in the Catholic Church now, with the new Protestant worship going on the sacrifice of the Mass is removed.
The Fathers also believed that in Revelation 9, it speaks of many falling away from within the Church towards the end.
St. Augustine also mentions that the antichrist will be from the Jews that will infiltrate the Church and trick it. Further, the Fathers state that the Pope can never become the Antichrist. For the chair of St. Peter will last till the end of the world (Matt. 28:20). However, they do speak of a time when holy Father will be held captive and have to be on the run for his own protection when the antichrist comes.
"Let no one deceive yo in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion (or lit. apostasy - the falling away from the Catholic Church) comes first." (2 Thess. 2:3).
Since Vatican II there has been a great apostasy from amongst the clergy and laity. The Council itself is good and states the Catholic faith rightly, for it is the magisterium that speaks. But the abuses that are going on all over the world and the false belief amongst the laity that they are now Protestants (Making God whom you want him to be, living any way one wants to, even in mortal sin and still go to heaven based on 'faith alone') is the great "rebellion" that must take place before Christ returns. How long with the rebellion continue and how bad will it become only God knows.
But we must pray for our Holy Father, who is the vicar of Christ, and for Rome, for Holy Mother Church. And we must say the Rosary as our blessed Lady has told us.

Just my thoughts,
Dave

And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. … You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes, but all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

Since Jesus first said these words, many have believed that “now” was the end times. In truth, the end times are here; they began 2000 years ago with Our Lord’s death upon the Cross and have continued to this day.
We should not be concerning ourselves with “Is this the end of the world,” but with the question, “If the Lord were to come for me tonight, either at the close of the age or at the close of my life, would I be prepared.”

We must pray for lost souls, that they will have the grace of repentance before that time comes.

Christina,
Yes, the first part of what Jesus says is ongoing, but are we in the second part of the passage you quoted? "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved."
The Catholic Church has always taught that Matthew 24 speaks of the time of the destruction of the Temple in AD 70 and history leading to the Second Coming. Christ gives the Church signs for both.
Further, what you said "We should not be concerning ourselves with 'Is this the end of the world,' but with the question, 'If the Lord were to come for me tonight, either at the close of the age or at the close of my life, would I be prepared.'" (very good Baptist statement by the way, just kidding, I just a lot of statements like that on the church signs on Baptist churches in my area).
But we can't discount the other teachings in the Scriptures like 2 Thess. 2 and of course the book of Revelation. The magisterium of the Church has always put together the whole picture of what the NT says about the end of the world.

Yes - I'm convinced we are in the midst of it. Dave makes some very good points.

Christina, pretty much everything you quoted in your first paragraph is going on today and has been for the last century.
As for attacking the sacrifice of the Mass and its abuses within the clergy, did anyone read the article yesterday on Spirit Daily on what is going on in Holland? They have totally recreated the Mass in their own image, with the approval of the local Dominicans, and it is truly frightening. I expect Holland to be washed into the ocean at any minute! Seriously, as Our Lady said ,pray, pray, pray, especially the rosary, "our most powerful weapon against the powers of darkness" to quote Fr. Corapi.

Quite convinced of it.

Yes, I believe we are on the brink of this terrible catastrophe. As others have said, some of these things are already happening.
