Did ya miss me?

No, not her. I mean me. Did you miss me?? Of course you did. What a silly question.

I see the Conciliar church has another house of worship under construction. Of course, if one were suspicious, one might question just who (whom?) or what is being worshiped in such houses.

Further, if one were a resident of the Diocese of Oakland, one might almost wish that one's diocese had been forced to declare bankruptcy before such an abomination of desolation could be raised as a blight on the skyline of one's fair city.

You see, you thought that throwing millions of dollars at sleazy plaintiff's lawyers because of the misdeeds of pervert priests was all bad. Not so. It obviously prevents mischief like this being pulled off by liberal chancery rats in said bankrupt dioceses. However, bankruptcy only lasts 7 years. This hideous structure they're raising in Oakland might stand for centuries. Especially since it's been hardened against any divine retribution (or architectural criticism if you prefer) in the form of earthquakes by “friction pendulum double-concave bearing isolators." It might require a tidal wave to take this thing out. I'm just sayin'.

Having said all that, I thought I would create my own motivational poster for those in the USCCB who seem bereft of all common sense and good taste. Don't worry, people. You're winning. Big time. In spite of motu proprios and such like, you're winning. You've isolated us traddys in our own little ghettos. You've co-opted the neos. You've gotten millions spent on modernist trash like the Oakland cathedral. Yes indeed. You've truly managed to sing a new church into being.

I saw a rendering of the Cathedral at Catholic Vision blog and I thought we had handed control of the diocese over to those Schuller's. I tell you, this thing looks exactly like the CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL!! I HATE the Crystal Cathedral! I know that the Catholic Church produces some of the most avant garde structures in all of religious architecture, but why this? I think I may have seen a building very similar to it on the Jetsons.

I have a book called New Spiritual Architecture that I purchased from Amazon last year. And, yes, the Catholic Church seems to be the leading force in developing progressive spaces of worship. One of these more modern structures is the Jubilee Church in Rome. I would despise the whole structure if it weren’t for a symbolic display of a crucifix next to what seems to be a long corridor. Don’t bother Googling it. The display has to be shown at just the right angle or the illusion of the corridor is missed. Outside of that, the Church is quite ugly. Maybe the Schuller’s had it built.

i can't learn to "love"a modern church. don't care for them. a church to me is one that is gothic architecture, and old. very old. the new churches don't do anything for me.

Of course we missed you! And don't stay away for so long anymore. That's an order.
Oh how is a person supposed to lift their mind and soul up to God in such a sterile architecture? Why design a meeting place? I thought it is supposed to be a cathedral, not a council chamber. Perhaps the San Andreas fault will take it to the depths of the earth before it is completed.

Oh, that's why it looks so familiar! Ha!

Let's see, the Barque of Peter is a ship, and we need a space to worship our transcendent God, the great Other, so this space for worship, this space-ship where we leave our earthly bonds and are caught up to the fourth heaven...

nah, doesn't work for me.

Y'know...it would be a cool building if it was anything other than a church. How about a Catholic shopping center? Oh wait...they've probably already included that in the architecture. Maybe they'll put a Starbucks in there! On the menu it will say:

Remember to drink all of this 15 minutes before Mass starts so that you don't break your fast! If you don't get through it all, just stand in the back so that you'll have a longer time to wait for communion! Thanks and come again!

Nice to see you back, Doctor. ;-)

In a Secular Sense, as I do write a Baseball Site, it would be as if Fenway Park, a veritable Baseball "Cathedral" were to be torn up & on its' site, a Proverbial RFK Stadium was to be built;

In time, the place replacing Fenway Park, would be loathed;

It's Time for a Retro-Church Building Movement with a sense of Sacrifice & Sacred.
