Two more days...

then we are heading across the province into Alberta, where the whole family is meeting at a ranch this weekend for a hoe-down of sorts. Actually, it's a birthday celebration for my dad. It should be fun! We are coming from three different provinces to be there, and I hear the menu is buffalo roast. Sounds fitting for an outdoor party at a ranch, doesn't it?

Mass on Sunday will either be at St. Anthony's FSSP parish in Calgary, or at the local Novus Ordo (St. Michael's) in Black Diamond. I've been there several times in the past, and it's not the Mass or even the church I remember so much as the pastor. His name is Father Jack and whenever I saw him, I used to picture an older, blond version of Rapid Roy, the stock car boy, (minus the cigarettes rolled up into his sleeve). It's funny how the mind makes associations to form memories. There is also a married priest who says Mass there. Yes, you heard me right. He was an Anglican priest who converted to Catholicism, and was ordained a Catholic priest under Pope John Paul II.

Hmm, maybe Shirley is right. The extra drive into St. Anthony's will probably be time well spent....
