Joe, yes, Vancouver has a great archbishop who has been gracious in our attempts to cultivate the Latin Mass (FSSP). We now have our own Church, a personal parish, with regular daily Masses whereas we formerly had to have Mass in "borrowed" Churches.
I came from a very liberal diocese (Nelson) where it was all happy-clappy hippie style Masses. I was really pleased to see that many of the Novus Ordo Masses in Vancouver are not that way at all. Vancouver is way less liberal than out in the interior of the province, where you can barely tell a Catholic Mass from a Protestant service.
Well said pmg. I do feel like this is a test for America, and the results will determine the country's survival. Jesus protect and save the unborn. Our Lady of America, pray for us.
God has blessed this country, and I can't help but think of Ninevah. I know there are more than 10 righteous people here...but can they be found in the Democratic party? The Dems have had power of the House and Senate for the last 8 years, and if Obama becomes President, well...I think that things worse than those happening in Canada will happen here.
Yet I think people will vote Dem because they want a change from the Reps (I don't love the Reps, but at least they carry the pro-life ticket!...but McCaine is also pro embryo stem cell research....)
Our country is going to Hell and taking us with it.
Joe...don't leave America. That's what the radical Dems said they'd do if what's his name wasn't elected last time around. Don't be so shallow. If you and I don't stay around to vote and change things, what becomes of the children that depend on us to make sure they grow up?
For sure I will let you know, I'm completely real. :)
Adoro: I'm discerning leaving California one way or another come next year i will not be in California. :) Where there is a solid seminary, i shall be.
A paramedic who loves her job, but first and foremost, a traditional Catholic who recognizes the tremendous grace and privilege of belonging to the Catholic faith.
And yes, I use Canadian spelling. Humour, centre, colour and such. If you think it's spelled wrong, it's just the Canadian way!
Prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas for thanksgiving after Holy Communion
Workman's prayer to St. Joseph
Glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work in a spirit of penance for the expiation of my many sins; to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my inclinations; to work with gratitude and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop, by means of labor, the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, moderation and patience, without ever recoiling before weariness or difficulties; to work, above all, with purity of intention, and with detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account which I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all after your example, O Patriarch Joseph. Such shall be my watchword in life and in death. Amen.
O gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of your departed servant Joe. Be not severe in your judgement, but let some drops of Your Precious Blood fall upon him, and send, O merciful Savior, Your angels to conduct him to a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.
"Because out of reverence towards this sacrament, nothing touches it, but what is consecrated; hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest's hands, for touching this sacrament." - ST. THOMAS AQUINAS, Summa Theologica
