Lepanto! And the Feast of the Holy Rosary is celebrated on the anniversary of the battle.

For a memorable depiction of the battle one can't get much better than Chesterton's poem Lepanto.

The Battle of Lepanto, which saved the Christian West from being overrun by the Ottoman Empire.

It is celebrated by the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). Given the current state of the Church in the west and the immigration demographics, we should certainly be calling on Mary's intercession with more fervency than ever!

It didn't take long to get the correct answers! It's refreshing to know that people are so well schooled in their Catholic faith. Anonymous, yes, we need to pray the Rosary for our world today.

Do you know that the flags captured from the enemy ships are exposed in the Church of St. Stephen in Pisa.

Thanks Cristiano. I didn't realize that. Say, are you Cristiano from CAF? I still pray for your son's vocation with every rosary. (There are now 18 seminarians and young men with vocations whom I pray for.)God willing, we will have many more.
