On a different note

If you ever text while driving, watch this enactment of what could happen to you:

This is one of the scariest videos I have ever seen. I sure hope many teens realize from this what can happen when you text and drive.

Isn't that an INCREDIBLE video? Really disturbing...I didn't want to drive home today, and I don't even text! (can't!)

Not that I haven't seen that kind of thing before but...DANG!

Powerful video; people don't think of the consequences of their actions. Even little things can have devastating consequences; and you never know the hour or the day.......

I feel like Adoro, scared of the people who are doing this. I made the entire family watch this. No one here has a cell phone but I made it clear if they are driving with someone who is texting or using their cell phone to tell them to stop and let them get out. This is no different than getting into a car with a drunk driver. Thanks for putting this up.

That's a really good thing to do, Elizabeth! Telling your family to have the driver pull over and let them out is something I haven't heard anyone come up with before, but that is exactly what we all tell our kids to do if the driver is drunk. And just as many, if not more, accidents are caused by drivers who are texting. Great advice!

I worked in insurance claims for nearly 5 years, and can tell you the vast majority of serious accidents are caused by inattention/distraction. Not drunk drivers or teens texting, but adults being stupid.

So although teens can be stupid, too, it was more often adults who caused irreversible damage to many lives by their driving behavior such as texting (adults are just as bad), doing makeup, reading, messing with the radio, etc etc etc

This is perecisely why kids and teens should not be allowed t odrive cars.
2 - no eating in cars
3- casr should be stopped and seacrhed fopr cell phones. if you have a phone in your care demarit points. For donkets centuries we survied without cell phones, why has it become a neccesity now???

Smiley ~ What goes for kids goes for adults...check out my previous comment.

This video needs to be made again for adults just so all can get the point.

I VERY RARELY dealt with kids.

Adults cause far more accidents in their insolent and "it can never happen to be because I'm not a teen" stupidity.

If you take cells away from kids, better take the palm pilots and blackberrys away from adults.

I have a big issue with cell phones. We managed fine iwthout them, they are not a necessity.

Secondly a car is not needed if governments in western countries serious put their heads together ot make public transit effective.

I lived in india for more than half my life and we never had a car i could go anywyre i wanted with te public transit system

I moved the canada, and the public transit system in toronto is hopeless

Smiley, I know it's not the issue at hand. I studied in Toronto in 1981-82 and have been back a number of times since, most recently in 2005. I didn't have a car and found the public transport in Toronto proper and in the commuter area around it to be excellent.

Hi Fr Sean

It is the issue at hand, Youe lived in Toronto and traveled in Toronto hence you used a single transit system. I live in the GTA area in the suburbs of TOronto and work in the East Side of Toronto it is highly ridiculous that via transit it should take me 2 hoours in each direction to get to work and 2 horus to get back home.
The solution is not me moving cloer to work casue the est end of tornto is slumlands, the soultion is an effecient transit system

Adoro, you are right that most accidents involve adults and not children. Most of the motor vehicle accidents I attend to involve adults, and more and more of them involve cell phones.

This video was made for a high school education program, and that's why there are kids acting in it. (I bet they had a great time making it!)

By the way, my own son texts and drives all the time! Much to my horror, I might add.
