Do you have a crucifix in your front entrance so that all who enter your home know it is a Catholic home? The crucifix in this photo was given to me by my blogging buddy, Dr. Bombay (yes, he still exists, he just doesn't have internet right now) The crucifix sits right inside the foyer, so that the first thing people will see when they enter our home is their Saviour crucified for their salvation. Beside that is a picture of Jesus blessing a home with a poem that reads:
Bless this home, dear Lord above
With happiness and with thy love
Bless the door that opens wide
To the warmth that waits inside
Touch its windows with thy light
Be its comfort in the night
Grant it peace and sweet accord
Make this home Thy home, dear Lord.

that picture you have of jesus blessing a home is the exact same one joe gave me in 2000!!!! cool!!!
i have a framed a pic of HH Benedict XVi and put it right in my entrance and a crucifix below it and below that, "this is a Catholic home"
We don't actually have a foyer or entry way. But ther's acrucifix on the living room wall, and in each bedroom. And a sacred heart in the dining room. Our Lady has a statue by the front door.
I often wonder though, despite all these images are we really Catholic--could people tell we are the property of Our Lord by our lives and demeanor?
Sometimes I wonder if I actually see these images enough. Do they cause me to think of what they represent? Or are they just decor for me?
Perhaps I should resolve, and make good on that resolve, to say a short prayer, what we used to call a "pius ejaculation" when I see them.
DM - Joe gave you one just like that? Neat! I like the way you have your entry define your home as Catholic. It's nice to walk in and be greeted by your sign that says, This is a Catholic home. You have lots of really nice Catholic things in your home.
IR, you make some good points. We need to identify ourselves as Catholic by our thoughts, words, actions and deeds, not just by having crucifixes and statues in our home. On the other hand, how many Catholic families have no sacramentals displayed, not a rosary in sight, no statues and no crucifixes?
We have both a crucifix and a picture brought to us from Poland of John Paul II that was given to us about 27 years ago.
Although you certainly can have sacred music playing (even if it’s just in low volume) in your own home, there are some limitations to it. I wish music was as "displayable" and conspicuous as the imagery mentioned above without clashing with other sounds.
This is when technology becomes a blessing. There are approximately 160 pcs. of sacred works in my i-Pod from Palestrina and Allegri, to contemporaries composers of sacred music such as Arvo Part. I’m looking for more more:0)

BTW, I've noticed that a number of Catholic bloggers are posting articles related to the Dominican Order of Preachers. Any ideas why? Even I posted on a famous OP, but without knowledge of the other blogs that were writing on the same order. Maybe I should ask them. Duh?

JP the Great said we should evangelize more. Maybe the Holy Spirit is trying to get us to think about doing so, by setting us examples that kinda "oooze out" about spreading the word?
Are you getting your new home dedicated to the Sacred Heart? My home has a picture of the Sacred Heart right beside the kitchen table, and one in our bedroom. The Crucifix is on the stub wall between the kitchen and living room, and I have a statue of the Sacred Heart(thanks, Divine Mercy) in my office. My next purchase will be a statue or picture of the Blessed Virgin.
thanks:) yes, joe gave that to me. i was delighted! i hung on to it and finally decided to frame it. and as for those Catholic items in my home.. well i've added more:) more will be coming some time soon:) by the way, that was the only gift joe ever gave me that i can recall. i treasure it believe me!
We have a crucifix hanging in plain sight when people walk in.
Funny story:
When we were trying to sell our house a few years ago, one person even submitted a complaint to our real estate agent about our house because it had too many religious articles in it.
