The Game Goes On...

I'm it. I've been tagged in the meme game by my friend Dr. Bombay, author of Confraternity of Uber Catholics, another one of my favourite blogs and the first place I go for traditional Catholicism that's mixed with a good dose of humour.

There's 14 questions to answer, and I'm supposed to pass this on to other bloggers to keep the game alive and get them to post their answers. So, tag, Anita at V for Victory, you're it! And netmilsmom, who actually hasn't posted anything yet, (but I would love it if she did), you're in the game. And also Tony at See to See.

The Questions:

(1) Favorite devotion or prayer to Jesus:

I love the prayer of the publican, "Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner". I'm sure I could never repeat that prayer too much. My favourite devotion is to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

(2) Favorite Marian devotion or prayer:

I enrolled in the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary and pray the Rosary daily. I also pray the Memorare daily. Funny, though, I always forget to say the prayer of the Miraculous medal - that's why I posted it on my blog, as a reminder to myself!

(3) Do you wear a scapular or medal:

I hope I'm never caught dead without a brown scapular, and I mean that seriously! I have a Padre Pio medal attached to it. My scapular is always falling out of my work shirt, and patients are forever tucking it back in for me. It serves as a good witness to people who ask what it is. I'm never shy about explaining the devotion to people. I figure that's why it keeps showing itself.

(4) Do you have holy water in your home:

I keep holy water in a jar with a spigot and use it to bless rooms. And thanks Marilena, for the little holy water bottle you gave me. It's great for travelling.

(5) Do you offer up your sufferings:

I used to do it automatically, but now I often forget. Maybe Dr. Bombay can prescribe me some memory medications.

(6) Do you observe First Fridays and First Saturdays:

I have made the five first Saturdays, and tried to get through the nine First Fridays, but something always come up, like work or another commitment. I'm hoping to do this when I retire!

(7) Do you go to Eucharistic Adoration? How frequently:

I love Eucharistic Adoration and have done several posts on it. Currently, I try to go once a week, on Wednesdays.

(8) Are you a Saturday night Mass person or Sunday morning:

Sunday mornings. The Saturday night Mass seems like cheating to me. You know, go to Mass Saturday night so you can be lazy and sleep in. Nah. Not my style.

(9) Do you say prayers at mealtime:
Most of the time. It's fun to make the sign of the cross in restaurants.

(10) Favorite saints:

The Blessed Virgin (She is my spiritual mother, the one I always turn to)
St. Michael the Archangel ( The protector)
St. Padre Pio (A great saint, and one I have just recently become familiar with. I have a framed photo of Padre Pio in my kitchen. I love it when people ask if it's a pic of a relative. Then I get to tell his story.)
St John Vianney, the Cure of Ars ( I love his humilty and simplicity. I wish I could be more like him)
St Helen ( I'd love to be a martyr like my patron saint, but Lord, make it quick and make it later)!

(11) Do you know the Apostles Creed by heart:

Of course. What Rosary-praying Catholic doesn't?

(12) Do you ususally say short prayers (aspirations) during the course of the day:

Whenever someone taked God's name in vain, I always say (in my mind of course - I'm not that brave) Blessed be the Holy name of God. OK, I can see I need to work on other aspirations, too. Great path to holiness - I just need to teach myself to do this more.

(13) Bonus question: When you pass an accident or other serious mishap, do you say a quick prayer for the persons involved:

Hey, I'm a praying paramedic! All my patients get prayed for, whether they want it or not. Once, we had a call where a man was trapped under the roof of his pick up truck. It took 90 minutes to extricate him, and I prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for him over and over. Without the beads of course - I needed to use my hands. I was extremely let down when I found out I had been praying all that time for a drug dealer. I guess I had hoped that God would intervene in his life in some miraculous way, and that my prayers were futile.


(14) Wolftracker's bonus question: What sin do you find most difficult to manage from day to day:

Impatience. I hate being late and pay way too much attention to time. Patience is a virtue I haven't received yet.
